The Nintendo Wii Fit was finally released with much fanfare recently. If you have not seen the Wii game system from Nintendo, is the latest evolution in video game where players use the remote to simulate real-life actions, such as a tennis forehand. Physical actions of the players will play on the screen.
The Wii Fit is a "game", according to Nintendo website can increase their skill levels. "By playing Wii Fit a little every day, you, your friends and your family can work with their personal goals of better health and fitness, "the site says. Although I still have to use the game at all, I can say I am very skeptical that this will make a dent in the growing obesity problem in America.
The Wii Fit comes with a balance board that the player uses to interact with the game. When starting the game, the Wii Fit assesses the balance – which is important in your overall health, but is usually not a concern for anyone is not an elderly or recovering from injury.
It proceeds to perform the test body, which is more balanced assessment, followed for by calculating body mass index (or BMI). BMI is a very imperfect measure of one's own fitness, as it measures the ratio of weight to the very high level. Overall, I give credit to Nintendo for trying to make a game that tries to get people more active, which is more what can be said for other video game manufacturers. However, this will not nothing in terms of eroding the obesity problem in America. In fact, I'm going out on a limb and say that the game industry has to follow the path of manufacturers of snuff and alcohol, and the claim that excessive use of its product could lead to inactivity and obesity, rather than trying to make half an effort to increase activity levels U.S..
Rather than let their children play Wii Fit while watching television in another room, here are some things you can do together:
– Go walking
– Group session with a personal trainer
– Navigate the confidence course
– Play catch with a football or baseball
– Kick a soccer ball
– One-on-one basketball
– Walk and play on a par 3 golf course
– Working in the family garden or shoveling snow!
You can save money on electricity and form stronger bonds with their children as you increase your fitness levels together.
