The worst team in the postseason, the St. Louis Cardinals, only reached the World Championship.
With the win-loss wimpiest among the four contestants, Tony LaRussa Helpless in the upper left.
IÂ've been singing his praises for a long, long time. I like the way he approaches the game.
Still, not even expected to make the playoffs deserve to begin with?
And his victory in every sense?
When I grew up, two teams reached the postseason, period: the National and American League champions. By definition, they had the best results in their ranks, and that deserves to be regarded with respect.
The only time there would be a playoff was when there was a tie in one of the flags. Then, as I recall, a determined that the only game of the World Series representative would be.
Now isnÂ'ta Series battle between the Titans, but an idiosyncrasy meet between teams that could have impeded by their respective finish lines. Wild Card winners are as likely to win all, if not more likely, if you look at recent history, the teams out of control, as a result of the Mets 2006A and to a lesser extent, the Yankees.
You could probably pull teams from a hat and reach the same result.
The Dodgers were swept by the Mets. Forgetting the fact theyÂ're in different leagues, wouldnÂ't Kansas City Royals have done better? It gave Detroit fits in the final games of the season.
Which raises another question: Can teams with the largest end of season momentum provide a better spectacle for fans that cooled the months ahead, as the Mets?
You know the expression: "May the best team Win."
When was the last time it happened in the big leagues?
